More snow!

Last night Minot got another 5 inches of snow! We have now received over 37 inches of snow in November and December with 24 inches coming just in December. Plus we are expected to receive more snow tomorrow! Tyler has been busy blowing snow out of our yard. When he does this our dog, Angus, goes nuts! She chases the snow blower and bites at the snow....hope you enjoy the video

Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas Everyone! Today is my first Christmas! Mommy, daddy, and I stayed up at grandma and grandpa's in Newburg. On Christmas Eve we went to Church and saw lots of people. I was a very good boy and slept the whole service. I really liked the music!

Christmas morning we woke up and opened lots of presents. I got an exesaucer. I'm so excited to use it. I hope my daddy will put it together for me! Then we are off to great grandma and great grandpa's house for turkey dinner! There will be lots of people there so I will get lots of kisses!

Have a Merry Christmas Everyone!

Busy Weekend

Welstad Family
Bierman Family

Tyler, Kelani, and Schale Welstad

I look so sexy in my tux!

Braden and Linsey were Schale's sponsors

Kim and Murray!

We had a very busy weekend! On Saturday when it was -20 air temperature with 30 mph winds Tyler, Schale and I made the rode trip up to Newburg. When we got there Schale and I headed over to the church for a lovely shower put on by the women. Schale got lots and lots of nice things..clothes, toys, blankets, diapers etc. Thank you so much to everyone!

On Sunday we had baptism. Schale was perfect and slept through the whole service. He looked so handsome in his tux that grandma and grandpa Bierman bought him. Then coffee and lunch at the Bierman house. It was a wonderful day!

Just a reminder to everyone: only 4 more shopping days left until Christmas!

Big News!!!!

Big news in the Welstad house!!!!! Schale can roll over. From his tummy to his back he can roll over all by himself! His mommy is so proud..a little sad though that her baby isn't quite a baby anymore! He's growing up so fast and getting so big. I also attatched a picture showing just how much he looks like Tyler. Daddy gets up with him in the morning and feeds Schale breakfast. This morning they decided to do it just in their undies! I don't think there is any of me in this baby!

ND Blizzard!

We are in the middle of a blizzard right now so dad was telling me all about it....there were a few stories about hunting and fishing too!
Grandpa Kirk got me an early Christmas present! A Schwin bike!

Daddy thought that it was ok to wake me up from my nap to show me my present!

Mommy was not impressed with that at all!
Thanks Grandpa!

Here I am in my bear hat!

Christmas Pictures!

Last week while daddy was making deer sausage (over 1200 pounds were made) mommy and Schale took a trip out to see Katelin Moen (daughter of Tyler and Kylee). While we were there Kylee took some great christmas pictures of me! I tried to be on my best behavior and sit nice for her but sometimes I just got a little mad at her and mommy....how dare they make me wear a pink Santa hat! Don't they know that I'm a boy!!!!

Schale is one month old!

It's hard to believe that my little baby is already a month old. The time has flown by. I have another month off and will return to work on Jan 5, 2009.

Schale is getting so big. He is up to eating 4 oz now and loves his passy! He loves to come to grandma and grandpa's house too. I think we've been there every weekend since he was born. It's nice to have my mom help me too. What would I do without her?

Schale Bruno Welstad!

After several months of waiting and waiting Schale Bruno Welstad arrived on November 1, 2008 at 10:38 p.m. He was 6 lbs 6 oz. and 20 1/2 inches long. He did arrive a few days early.

After several weeks of very high blood pressure I was put on bed rest. They then decided to induce me on the night of October 30 thinking that I would have a Halloween baby! Well Schale was not ready to come into this world on that day...so we continued into November 1. After a very very long day it was decided that he would have to be delivered via c-section. So after many many many hours and weeks and months of waiting we finally have our beautiful baby boy!

patiently waiting.....

I have never had much patience throughout my life, so you can about imagine how I am doing counting down the days and waiting PATIENTLY for the baby to arrive. I try to keep myself busy either by cleaning or watching tv or reading. But waiting has to be the hardest part of pregnancy, especially now that we are down to the last few weeks.

Movie Review

So my aunt Penny came down to stay yesterday with us and we decided to take in a show in the afternoon. She chose to go to the movie Nights in Rodanthe. I hadn't heard much about the movie but I did know that Richard Gere was in it. I figured why not....for a pregnant lady who cries too much to begin with this was not a good movie to go to. The whole story line was very good and the acting was good and the scenery was beautiful. I just wasn't impressed with how it ended. Did I mention I cried throughout the whole movie! So if you have seen it already let me know your thoughts...if you haven't...Unless you need a good cry and are in that kind of mood...I don't recommend it.

Swollen Feet!

When I signed up for the pregnancy thing no one ever told me about the swollen feet! They are huge and it doesn't matter what I do they just don't seem to get back to their normal size? I drink water all day long and of course we all know what happens when you drink water....

So my question is for all of those ladies who have been through this before....Will my feet ever look normal again? Or as close to normal as a foot is supposed to look?

What's in a name?

We finally set up the crib yesterday for the baby! I can't believe that in like 6 weeks he will be here! He meaning we have no official name picked out yet!

I never realized how hard it would be to pick out a name! Everytime I think of a name and decide it's a good one we change our minds. People have told me that you really won't know until he comes and then it will just come to you! I'm praying that's the case. We do have a few names to choose from but we'll just have to wait and see.

Another thing that I was not aware of is that I never thought in a million years I would be so anxcious to get this baby here! These last few weeks have seemed to take forever! Just hurry up and get here already!

Proud!

It was this day 7 years ago. It started out as a normal day, I was getting ready for school and I heard the news. The twin towers had been hit. My heart has never ached so much for so many people I did not even know. It is this day every year for the rest of my life that I will remember what happened. God Bless everyone who lost their lives or a loved one that day 7 years ago. You will always be remember and you will all be missed. Thank you to all of those who are or who have fought for our country. It is because of you we are FREE. And it is because of you I am proud to be an American!

Randomness

Have you ever had one of those days or weeks in your life where you just don't know? It seems lately that I get up in the morning and I just don't know about the day. I don't care about what is happening around me and I just want to stay in bed forever and stay snuggled up with the dog! Maybe it's just getting to that point in my pregnancy and it's normal?! I'm not sure. Work is so crazy this week again and when I wake up in the morning I just don't care to go to work. And even if I do have the ambition to go to work when I get there I just don't care what's happening! Only 8 weeks left of my pregnancy! We are super excited and I can't wait! Soon we start moving into the new house and we can get the baby's room set up! Yay!

Winter already?

September 3, 2008...that is the correct date right? It's not November? Or even October? I woke up this morning and it felt a bit chilly....so I turn the television on to our trusty weather channel and what do I find the temperature to be? 40 degrees outside! Yup that's right 40 degrees! Little chilly wouldn't you say? So for the first time in a very long time I put on long pants and socks and closed toe shoes! I even put on a light leather jacket. So I'm driving to work and I see this guy walking along side the road near our university here. He is completely dressed in a parka with gloves and a stocking cap! This dude is soooo not going to make our winters here!

Onto another story. I got a call at work a couple of weeks ago from a woman who is going to move here from Seattle for the work in the oil industry. These are just some of the questions she asked:

What is the date that the snow starts to fall? I'm sorry I can't give you an exact date. One year we had 15 inches of snow October 5, last year it didn't snow until the end of November.

How cold does it get there? The air temperature can get to -30 and the windchill can be colder than that.

What is a windchill? Look it up on the internet please!

So what does -30 feel like? Bring a scarf, it's cold!

I'm all for the oil industry and I think it will bring great things to Minot, but if you are going to move here from somewhere.....BE PREPARED TO BE COLD!

Harvest

This is why I love North Dakota!

Prayer

Prayer is the act of attempting to communicate with a deity or spirit. Purposes for this may include worshipping, requesting guidance, requesting assistance, confessing sins, as an act of reparation or to express one's thoughts and emotions. The words of the prayer may take the form of intercession, a hymn, incantation or a spontaneous utterance in the person's praying words. Secularly, the term can also be used as an alternative to "hope". Praying can be done in public, as a group, or in private. Most major religions in the world involve prayer in one way or another.

I never gave it a second thought about our Church's prayer chain until just recently. See we have this thing in our church a whole list of people...you start with one and that person calls the next and so on...each person says a prayer to help whoever starts the prayer chain. My aunt was diagnosed with cancer not too long ago in her lung. On 8-8-08 at 8:00 a.m. they went in and removed part of the lung. After sending that off to the lab and finally receiving the test results back from mayo clinic we have learned that the rest of the lung does indeed have cancer as well. So today mid-afternoon she goes in to have the rest of her lung completely removed. Hopefully this will take care of it. They are unsure yet though if she will have to do radiation and chemo but probably because the type of cancer that she has is very aggressive and is also in some of the lymph-nodes. After finding this out on Saturday as we were driving to Bismarck to see her, the first thing I did was start the prayer chain. Prayer is amazing and I truly believe that with all the people praying for her she will find the strength with God to fight this!

TGIF!

After going home the other morning to grab something...this is what I found. Angus is not allowed on our furniture at all and little did we know that she was doing this during the day while we were not home. Our dog was born deaf so she doesn't hear anything when we open the door and come in. I just started laughing because I thought wow...she is just a sneaky little thing! So here is our not so perfect pooch!

weekend update!

Saturday I went to my first ever turtle race! What an event! Upham holds this event once a year for the past 29 years. You put your turtle in the center circle and stand around the white circle about 15 feet out...then you lift the container that all of the turtles are held in and watch them go! I was just amazed that so many people turn out for the turtle races...who would've guessed!

On Sunday we went down to Bismarck to visit my aunt. Check out her caring page website: http://www.caringbridge.org/cb/viewJournal.do?method=executeInit. This will tell you the whole story. She looks good and we are praying the results come back in our favor so they don't have to remove the whole lung! Pray for her!

Sunflowers!

If you have never been to North Dakota you wouldn't know that this time of year is harvest for us. That means combining late nights, running the grain cart, and crabby farmers. I do love this time of year though. The sunflowers are starting to pop and they are so beautiful. The heads on a sunflower can get very very large and when you look across a field that is full of sunflower heads it makes you very cheery. When I was in highschool I was told that the sunflower head follows the sun. I was completely intrigued by this. If you watch the sunflower head you will notice that their heads are turned to the east in the morning when the sun comes up and it really does follow the sun throughout the day. When you look at them in the evening you will notice they now face the west because the sun is setting. What a weird little flower!

Canning

Have you ever canned peaches? Well I haven't..that is until this past weekend. See my husband loves canned peaches and peaches are in season right now so my mom being the awesome mother-in-law that she is said that I should come up and she would help me can peaches. I thought that there couldn't be much to it so I said why not, plus I would get to spend some time with mom. So on Saturday afternoon we started to can peaches. Wow! Messy, sticky, lots of pots and pans, and time time time! The whole process isn't hard to grasp and is actually pretty easy, but wow...that is how I can best describe canning. After canning 6 canners of 8 jars per canner on Saturday we still had more peaches left...so that left Sunday! Two canners were done on Sunday and then we headed up to Bottineau to see my grandma in the home! She is doing much better and will hopefully be able to head home soon!

I know I'm going a little backwards but now I have to tell you about Friday...We decided late afternoon to head to Newburg on Friday night because Tyler Moen had called my Tyler and asked him to harvest for him this weekend. So we get out to Moen's house and Moen said I need you to go to Fargo to pick up a trailor we just bought. Now my husband Tyler had been up since about 4:30 a.m. that morning for his regular job and didn't want to travel to Fargo, which is about a 5 hour drive or more in a semi, by himself. So I went with! Holy smokes for bumpy! We left Newburg about 8:00 p.m. Friday night and drove all the way to Fargo to pick up this trailor. We pull in and hitch on about 1:00 a.m. Then we head over to the truck stop so we can sleep, unfortunately the truck stop was completely full...so back to Grand Forks we go! Arriving in GF around 2:15 a.m. we finally get to go to sleep. Now imagine if you will two grown people sleeping in a twin size bed in the sleeper! It was definately cozy...Needless to say we finally got back to Newburg around 10:30 a.m. on Saturday morning and were both completely exhausted. But it was an experience neither of us will forget!

Crazy!

What a stressful week! Work was horrible! The North Dakota State Fair was this past week and WOW were we busy! I don't think I've used my brain that much in a long time! I only attended one day of the 9 day event...it was hot and miserable. I think we were there for a total of 3 hours..if that!

On a great note, my friend Jessica had her baby! She and her husband welcomed a baby boy on Saturday! Congrats! Also finding out that our good friends Russ and Laura are expecting #3 this February! Babies all over the place! Can' wait!

The zoo!

This weekend was great! My mom and I went to the movie Mama Mia with Braden's girlfriend Keri. It was great! We haven't spent a day together in a long time. It was also mom's 50th birthday this past Wednesday and we were not allowed to throw her a party or even come home for supper because mom told us gas was too expensive and she didn't want us driving out! The older she gets the more stubborn she gets! Then on Sunday Tyler and I went to the Zoo with some friends and their kids. We hadn't been to the zoo in forever and it was so nice to go. It was a beautiful day and lots of fun! Can't wait until our little one is big enough to go and see everything. After the zoo we made a trip to Walmart. I don't go out there very often because it's always so busy and you have to stand in line forever! To our great surprise Russ and Laura informed us that they were buying us a crib for the baby. So we picked out the crib and hauled that home. We grilled outside last night and it was just an all around great weekend! Living in ND is the best and I'm pretty sure I wouldn't trade it for anything.

North Dakota State Fair - What a ride!

Weddings are over!

I was in my last wedding for this summer! RaeAnne Deschamp got married to Ryan Ellsworth on Saturday. Everything was beautiful! The weather was a little icky but oh well. We live in ND what can we do?

Fair time is just around the corner. We are busy preparing at work for everything. I really don't care for the fair that much. Oh well! Tyler is busy at work as well. It seems like we are never home. Hopefully things slow down a little before the baby comes so we can get some stuff done. We are moving into a bigger house at the end of September. I can not wait! We have outgrown the one we are in and it's time for something bigger. Especially with junior on the way!

July!

Wow...I can't believe it's already July 8th. Where has the summer gone? Every weekend in June was occupies by a wedding. And another one this coming weekend too. Then the NDSF and then I think we are going to try and head to Medora for a trip. The crops are starting to turn already so harvest isn't far away. That means late nights and eating in the field. It also means harvest moons. They are my favorite!

I have posted a few pictures from Bethany Hall's wedding. That was June 28. She was a beautiful bride and the weather was awesome!

Crazy Summer!

Today we head off to the big city of Las Vegas! We are heading down today and returning on Monday. Tyler's dad is getting re-married! I am excited to get out of town but I am not excited for the 106 degree temperatures that are expected! I'm going to die of heat exhaustion! Lost has happened in the last couple of weeks. Tyler's great grandmother Vi passed away last Friday. Her funeral was on Tuesday. It was beautiful and she would've loved everything and everyone that came for it. Well I will update more when I get back and get some new pictures on here!

Friday, May 30, 2008

wow!

Wow what an interesting weekend this past one! Grandma Deverenne fell and broke her knee at the cemetary Friday night and had surgery on Saturday night. She is now in the home in Bottineau because no weight can be placed on her knee for 3-6 months.

On an exciting note, Tyler's sister graduated from High School! It was a great day. Lots of family and friends were at Lindsey's open house! Congrats Linz!

Tyler's dad also informed us that he and Dianne are getting married on June 21, 2008 in Las Vegas. So we are headed down to the big city!

Tyler left on Monday with his dad and Dianne to bring some things back of Kirk's and also to bring home our Harley! He will be getting back sometime today. I can't wait to have the Harley back! It's finally starting to get nice here so it will be nice to ride! Hopefully this weekend will be a little less exciting and some relaxing can get done!
